The book

Bioweapon is a dystopian technothriller, Book One of the Legacy Trilogy.

In the Australian desert, the government’s Cleansing burns Rin Renslow’s home to ash. He sets out across the planet to protect a woman he has never met.

In London, a stranger’s footage reaches investigative journalist Leah Sudeski. She pulls the thread and finds genocide on the other end. With a target on her back, she must reach the rebellion alive and bring the truth to a world that doesn’t know it’s enslaved.

A generation after Ragnarok fractured the world, the World Government has stitched it back together. One implant at a time. The Lync network hums behind every eye. Peace. Order. Connection.

In a world at peace, a secret war has begun.

The story behind it

Jeremy K Bowden first published a shorter version, Bioweapon: New Beginnings, in 2012. A reader review from March 2013 already described its world government and the microchips in every head. Part One of the new edition, Legacy, rewrites that book. Part Two, Deliverance, was written soon after the original and sat unpublished for years.

In the time it took to finish, brain-chip companies began implanting their first patients. That gap, between what a novelist imagined in 2012 and what is in the news now, is the conversation Jeremy is happy to have.

About the author

Jeremy K Bowden first published a version of Bioweapon in 2012, then spent years rewriting and expanding it. Long enough to watch some of the technology he imagined edge out of science fiction and into modern reality. Bioweapon opens the Legacy Trilogy. He lives and writes on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales.

Interviews, reviews and talks

Jeremy is available for interviews, podcasts, library talks and readings: in person on the Mid North Coast, and online anywhere. Review copies are available as an ebook or paperback.

Talking points: writing a brain-implant dystopia in 2012 and watching the technology arrive; why a story about trusting no government belongs to no side; starting a dystopia in the Australian desert instead of an American city; bringing a first novel back fourteen years later.
